This long loved feature of Australia was discovered in 1987 by the Europeans. This sandstone formation is 348 m high and rising above sea level 863 m. Uluru is a large sandstone rock in the middle of Australia, it has been stated to be "Australia's iconic red center"
Where is it?
From Alice springs: 200 km down the Darwin-Adelaide Stuart Highway and then take a right onto the Lasseter Highway for 245km until reaching Yulara. The rock is south of here, about 20kms.
